About Us

R&R House is the nation’s first peer-run respite to provide a safe and welcoming environment exclusively for former members of the United States Armed Forces. The R&R House is a low-level crisis program. Any Wisconsin Veteran experiencing different stressors can have a safe place to connect with a Veteran Peer Support Specialist in a residential setting.

What Does The R&R House offer?

We offer up to a 7 day stay at a peaceful residential property on 2 acres of land. The house is fully ADA accessible. We have multiple veterans’ specific resources along with a variety of activities and programs available during your stay. Veteran Peer support is available to anyone who has taken the oath regardless of discharge status.

Non-crisis Warmline

The R&R House operates a non-crisis Warmline for Veterans and Military families. The warmline is run by Veteran Peer supporters. All callers are asked to leave a voicemail with their contact info and a Veteran Peer Support will return the phone call. You can contact the warmline by calling 262-336-9540

* All contacts to and conversations facilitated by MHA's warmline services are confidential and no identifying caller information will be shared with any third parties without the caller's consent.

Virtual Support Group

Virtual Group Informed Understanding

By participating in the R&R House Peer-Run Respite Virtual Support group, it shall be understood:

1. The group is facilitated by Certified Peer Specialists and can not take the place of professional emergency services.

If you are experiencing serious crisis or suicidal thoughts, please call the Veteran Crisis Line: 1-800-273-8255

2. The group strives to hold space for those that want to participate. The healing power of choice is also valued. It’s okay for a participant to just listen if they choose to be silent and anonymous.

3. The group shall not be recorded nor identifying personal information collected.

4. Anything shared within the group only exists in the group. Please respect the privacy that we all deserve.

5.  Each participant comes from diverse backgrounds with different experiences.  It’s important to practice gentleness, compassion, and respect with those that have different world-views. Should a topic or relationship between participants sour, the facilitator(s) will direct the discussion to address the issue.

6. If extra support is needed, please feel free to direct message a facilitator, or call the R&R House 24/7 non-crisis Warmline: 262-336-9540.
