Here I Am: An evening of youth storytelling on mental health

Wednesday, May 2, 2018
7:00 PM
8:30 PM
Loos Room, Centennial Hall, 733 N. 8th St., Milwaukee, WI

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and National Alliance on Mental Illness present an evening of storytelling by Milwaukee-area youth.

When: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2. (Resource Fair from 6:30-7:00)

Where: Loos Room at Centennial Hall, 733 N. 8th St. in Milwaukee (next to Central Library).

Students and young adults will share short stories about their personal experiences with mental health challenges. They've lost loved ones to suicide, fought lawmakers for more resources in their schools and started their own initiatives to support their fellow students. They're sharing their stories to break stigma around mental illness and push for better support.

Also at the event, you'll hear from local experts on mental health and you'll have the opportunity to pick up resources from community organizations. Check out the resource fair before the event (same location) from 6:30 to 7.

RSVP: No registration necessary, but we encourage you to RSVP on Facebook.

This event builds on reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin on youth mental health. Find the series at jsonline.com/kidsincrisis.

***This event is free, accessible and open to the public. Arrive early to make sure you get a seat.
