Professionals and interested individuals will experience the expressive therapies of art and movement on a personal level. This will look and feel different for each person, providing a foundation for personal and professional shift.

9:00-10:30 Art Therapy: Finding Creativity

Art therapy uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals. Artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-worth, self-awareness, and achieve insight.

Tina Szada, MS, ATR-BC, clinical art therapist at The Eating Disorder Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital, has worked in hospitals, schools, intensive in-home, clinics and outpatient therapy.

10:30-12:00 Dance/Movement Therapy: The Body as Healer

We communicate with others and interact with our world using our bodies long before we are able to relate on a verbal level. Dance/Movement Therapy begins with an understanding that the body and mind are intricately related, and thus that connecting to our bodily experience can help us to heal and become whole on a deeper level.
