Description:

Mental Health America of Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping all people live mentally healthier lives through education, advocacy and support.

Counseling Clinic: Provides outpatient counseling for adults, adolescents and children using a strength-based, client-centered, trauma-informed treatment approach. For more information visit www.mhawisconsin.org/mha-wi-counseling-clinic.

Strong Families Healthy Homes Program: The Strong Families Healthy Homes Program (SFHH) consists of programs and services committed to nurturing and supporting the recovery, strengths and resilience of families when the parent(s) and/or caregiver(s) live with mental illness. These programs are strength-based, family-driven and follow a recovery model of service and a belief that healthy family bonds create natural supports for sustaining wellness. Information and Assistance: Takes calls and e-mail from the general public, mental health consumers, family members, and professionals with questions about issues related to mental health, mental illness, and community resources. Call (414) 276-3122 or email info@mhawisconsin.org.

Legislative Advocacy: Keeps people informed about proposals in Congress and the Wisconsin Legislature related to mental health. MHA serves on several mental health committees, including the Governor's Council on Mental Health.

Survivors Helping Survivors Support Groups: Groups for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. There are two groups offered in the Milwaukee area. Call (414) 336-7970 for more information or visit www.mhawisconsin.org/survivors.
