Who should attend?

Anyone caring for, working with or interested in the well-being of children and youth with social, emotional, behavioral, mental health or substance use challenges.

Keynote

"Who Cares About Kelsey?"

Kelsey Carroll has one goal--to graduate from high school. She attends a school with one of the highest dropout rates in New Hampshire and has dealt with homelessness and ADHD. As a freshman, she didn't earn a single academic credit, but she did get suspended for dealing drugs. Who Cares About Kelsey? is the story of Kelsey's transformation from a defiant 'problem student' to a motivated, self-confident young woman. Critical figures in her life shape her coming of age and play important roles in an education revolution that's about empowering our most emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth.

Filmmaker Dan Habib will screen and discuss his film Who Cares About Kelsey?, followed by a post-screening discussion with the film's central subject, Kelsey Carroll.

Later in the morning, Kelsey will deliver a presentation on the RENEW process and the important role it played in her high school success.

Workshops

In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of workshops, in two sessions, covering topics such as restraint and seclusion, trauma-informed care, RENEW (Rehabilitation, Empowerment, Natural supports, Education and Work) WI/PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), and working with military families. You will be asked to choose one workshop for each session when you register.
